Hi Eiji – I had never even heard of unitasking before!! I am the ultimate multi tasker to the point it can be quite dangerous and I end up procrastinating because of it. I am going to give this exercise a go and see what it does for me! The e-course sounds like it might be useful for me, will have to check it out!
great post
cheers

Hi Eiji, that is an interesting concept you show us. I have to agree with you. If you multitask in the true sense, it works counter productive.
I know that when I am super busy, I tend to finish every task for about 60-70% and than I move on to the next. As a result I don’t finish anything.
That is so frustrating that the task becomes overwhelming. Whereas when you unitask, you get the satisfaction of removing tasks from your list, because they are done. Even if you don’t finish all your tasks, it still feels good. After all, you are focusing on your accomplishments.
So, in order to handle an overwhelming workload, I divide the task in smaller easier to accomplish goals. That way I feel like I accomplish something sooner, which stimulates me to do more.

Hi Eiji,
I LOVED this post! I don\’t know who coined the term \"multitasking? but I think it has messed up a lot of lives by thinking you can work that way when your brain can only \"unitask!\" excellent post.
Love your blog Eiji and the wisdom you share. Making the most of your time is very, very important. Live life to the full and have no regrets.
Best wishes

Hi Eiji,
This video really hits home for me as of late. I have so many things going on in my life….family, business, church etc…that at first it seems to make sense to multitask as many thinks as I can but I have decided to focus on one thing at a time and doing it really well. Thanks for the confirmation.
Stay fun,
Rafael
This is an excellent exercise to make your point..for some things I am still not completely convinced that multitasking is not the way to go. As a working mother, I get many things done because of my ability to multi task. Without this flexibility the human factor of living with other people would be either completely neglected or the other parts of the equation would.
I loved the timer concept though..defining the task and completing it in the uni-tasking formula because as Karin mentions..the multitasking or ADD affect of the computer on our brains can lead us to many incomplete tasks. Breaking things down into smaller tasks seems to be a great idea as well.

G’day Eiji,
Thanks for calling over and leaving a comment at my blog.
Excellent illustration Eiji…so true …there are so many of us that need to watch this…will have to look at the rest of your course.
Good to meet you.

Hi Eiji,
Your post reminds of something sorta funny.
Woman tend to be better multi-taskers.
While men are not.
We tend to be really good at only one thing.
I agree with you, in order to move forward with your business you need to be able to one task at a time and get it done.
Great post thanks for sharing,
Larry
Eiji,
Well…with my ADD it makes finishing any task difficult to say the least LOL, but I keep on trying. This video was interesting and got me thinking of focusing on one thing and taking it to completion. It’s a novel idea, now just need to try it.

Wow,
I do believe I need to start at the beginning of this series.
I like how you explain and give an exercise to help illustrate the difference between the two ways of tasking.
Great job! Look forward to viewing more of the series.

Wow! That is a interesting exercise. My friend was actually just telling me how he was in a interview and they asked if he could multi-task.
Lol, I told him to say “I can, but I would rather spend your companies time more wisely.”
He kind of laughed and I dont think he took i seriously.
Great post and Video!! Have a awesome day!

Hey Eijji,
I like the concept of uni-tasking. Focusing at one task at a time can increase your productivity specially at work rather than multitasking you accomplish nothing at all…
When you think you’re multitasking, what you’re really doing is “switchtasking”-switching back and forth rapidly between two or more tasks. There are three consequences of switchtasking; tasks takes longer to finish, mistakes increases and stress levels increase. Focus only to one task at a time and your productivity increases.
