Happiness Comes From Growth

be_unreasonableEither you are growing or you are dying. There is no standing still. Growth comes from being unreasonable going outside your comfort zone.

Piggybacking off my last post on Personal Accountability, I took an honest look at myself.

What I found out was what I already knew deep down in my heart was that I’ve been playing too small and being reasonable. Playing small and being reasonable affected my level of fulfillment.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw

It’s time to be unreasonable again. I decided to step up and play a bigger game.

My intention is to play at a higher level in the 4 core actions of life purpose.

1) Love more – Deepen my relationship with my wife and family.
2) Live more – Enjoy Life More
3) Grow more – Stretch My Limits and Comfort Zone
4) Give more – Empower More People and Make People’s Lives Better
(The Secret to Abundance is Giving)

Here’s where the unreasonable part comes into play:

1) Accomplish 1 year outcomes in 2 months
2) Do #1 while improving the quality time in my spirtual and family life.
3) Be more rejuvenated and higher energy level than before I started the challenge. (Opposite of burnout)

Parkinson’s Law: Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.

Collapsing times frames allow us to focus only on what’s important and vital. It protects us from bureaucracy creating meaningless busywork to pass the time. Our mind looks for the simplest way to achieve the outcome.

Genius Nugget: Geniuses simplify and remove complexities. Genius is making the complex simple.

It’s unreasonable to do in 2 months what I have done in 1 year.

It’s unreasonable to enjoy even closer relationship with God and my family during the journey.

It’s unreasonable to have even more energy and improved well-being after stretching my limits.

It’s unreasonable to expand and give freely $10,000+ in services at a time when most companies are cutting back. (Full Details coming Wednesday)

Stay tuned as I share you some of the strategies. Tomorrow I will share with you details on how you could win a $4200 full coaching scholarship.

To your genius,

    Hi Eiji,

I haven’t heard anything about being unreasonable ..I have to say I am finding it hard to get my head round it lol. The term ‘Unreasonable’ has such a negative connotation but I know that you mean exactly the opposite.

I would love to know how you get on in your 4 core areas of life purpose. It sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun.

And I am eager to find out what you have planned on Wednesday. It is always a pleasure to read your posts and you always get my mind thinking.

    Thank you so much,
    Yours in Success,

Love it Eiji, I know we had this conversation before. I guess it is “time to step it up.” I love your “4 core actions” and thank You that you put your family & relationship at your first.

I heard this one story by Darren hardy. he visited his dad’s friend he was almost on his deathbed. A Multi Multi-Millionaire and he said to Darren “Don’t miss the point! I wish I have cultivated relationships as much as I cultivated real estates and businesses.” So proud of you for putting family and your wife first.

Thanks for sharing your “4 core actions” with us.

    Hi Eiji,

I totally agree with you! Being out of your comfort zone not only forces you to re-shape your ordinary \"mold,\" it heightens your senses. And usually one of two things happens. You either realize you were meant to do something or not at all!

  4. Lynn Glaser says:

    Hey Eiji,

Being unreasonable is kind of like pushing yourself to live outside your comfort zone. In your comfort zone things are comfortable but it’s never really extraordinary. In your comfort zone it’s hard to achieve anything outstanding. It’s time to stop living small and start enriching your life.

I look forward to hearing how your core actions take hold! Best of luck.

    Cheers,

    Lynn

  5. Hi Eiji,
I like that we should be unreasonable! You’ve made me realize that being reasonable in areas of growth can be boring and complacent.
We wish you the very best in your endeavors to be unreasonable and we’ll be growing in your direction as well.
Thanks for the great quote and insight!

  6. Hi again Eiji! I am enjoying your blog SO much! I’ve lived inside my comfort zone for a long time! It’s time to get out BIG TIME! So I’m right there with you! I agree with the others who have commented that it’s important to put relationships first, and I’m glad to see that you also value your relationship with your Creator! Thanks for that thought provoking post!

    Great post Eiji!

It is so important that we connect with our core values and track the progress we are making on living them out in our lives on a regular basis. It is through these activities that I know that we can grow.

Thanks for sharing these tips with us all.

Look forward to hearing about your progress.

    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed

  8. Eiji, You have raised the bar and the challenge feels great! Why not give ourselves a shove outside the good old comfort zone and power forward.

I love the quote “Our mind looks for the simplest way to achieve the outcome.”Jeffrey Kluger’s book, “Simplexity” re simple, complex or a combination thereof.

The pressure is a good thing … keep it coming:)

  9. Hi Eiji,

Great post. It\’s so easy to stay in the comfort zone, but so rewarding when we push ourselves outside it.

I really like the 4 areas you mentioned, but the one about giving has been where I am stretching myself. I give free weight loss counseling to anyone who wants it. I have gained so much more from this than I could possible every give back. That\’s the way it works!

Thanks again for your insightful, right-on, down to earth post.

  10. Eiji…this topic seems to come up a great deal. My son and I were talking about being busy last night. He is feeling like he is more busy now than he has ever been but he is adding things into his life that he is truly passionate about…so he is not complaining at all.

He looked at me and made mention of the fact that he was just talking about himself and acknowledged that I have way more going on than him. But…I have found that since we squander most of our days away and only spend a small portion of them being effective, I can do way more than I used to ever think possible.

I heard an interview where the gentleman did a study with CEO’s and found that the average CEO spends just over 30 minutes/day in money making activities. I think we have something to learn here. It is “natural” for us to not stay focused on the things that are truly going to take us forward…but as I am involved with multiple things I actually stay focused longer and get more done because of the variety, I have stopped thinking small like “I can only accomplish a few things well” and started going for it in all of the areas in life that I am passionate about.

Anyhow…it has been great for me as I see it played out not only in my business but in my family life and personal life as well.

    I appreciate the post!

  11. Hi Eiji!

I know that you are absolutely unreasonable! LOL! I will be watching carefully to see how you do this, because I am really needing some respite!

I have always powered my way through everything. I could stand to learn a little finesse!

Hello Eiji! Great post. I love the quote by Mr. Shaw, as a matter of fact I may have to share it with my Facebook page! You are right, we are a breed of people that is sometimes swimming against the current, but what a fun swim it is.

Thanks for all your great content. Always enjoy reading your blog.

Great post, powerful message Eiji! I’m all for being unreasonable… the notion of thinking outside the box is good, but how about removing the box altogether ;-) .

To me this statement really stands out…
“Geniuses simplify and remove complexities. Genius is making the complex simple.”

When you simplify, your energy is not dispersed into too many things, so it is easy to focus to what’s important to you… which in turn will make it easy to be “unreasonable”!

    To your genius,
    Andre

I stumbled onto your blog and read a few post. I like your style of writing. I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts……..:)

  15. Wow you all rock! Thanks for all the comment love. You inspire me. =)

@Beth Thanks Beth! I love your work on your blog. I’ve been working on letting go any negative emotions attached to words. What I resist, persists. The moment I let go, it no longer appears or has an effect on my life.

@Therese You are a great role model being an entrepreneur and a mom. I think it rubbed off on me. =)

@Walter Nice Walter! Yes when you go for it you win either way and learn.

@Lynn Thanks Lynn! Love the word extraordinary. It’s what we all have the ability to achieve.

@DaveandDawn You two rock! Yes, let’s make life not easy but worth it.

@Judy Thank you Judy! Yes it is time to play BIG. You just reminded me of Les Brown quote “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.”

@Edward Thanks Ed! Progress is one of my favorite words. The moment I set out for progress instead of perfection is when I felt free.

@Darlene Thanks Darlene for your support. Yes pressure is a good thing. It’s what creates diamonds. =)

@DebbieStevens Yes definitely, Debbie. When you give, it feels like you get more out of giving than receiving. I feel that way whenever I’m coaching clients.

@BruceBackman Yes, passion is a critical part of letting your inner child play. I applaud you Bruce for having the courage and dedication to pursue your passion.

@NancyBurkeBarr Thanks Nancy! Will kee you posted. Powering through works short term but risk burnout. There is a balance of 1/3 active energy to 2/3 passive energy to achieve optimal performance. It will be up in the 2nd week of April.

@DebbieWood Thanks Debbie! I appreciate it!

@AndreSumara Thank you my friend! Removing the box altogether? I love it! Maybe I never noticed there was a box. Lol!

@NLPTraining Thank you for the compliment. I’m so happy you found my blog and enjoy it. NLP is a powerful tool. I use it in my coaching and training.
