Avoid Burnout Easily

Everything is energy.

You have a finite amount of energy in the day. When we go into our reserve tank and it empties out, we experience burnout.

Here are the keys to avoid burnout:

Simplest answer. Do more activities that give you energy and stop activities that drain you of your energy when your tank is low.

When you unlock your genius, it gives you energy. These are the things that you love to do and you lose track of time. It’s almost always related to what you love to do when you were a little kid before anyone can tell you what to do.

When you are outside your genius, it drains your energy.

Keep your energy tank full by nurturing your spirit and be in your genius.

Your spirit is like the little kid inside.

Give yourself a timeout to go out and play. When you don’t play for a long time, your little kid will get upset and throw temper tantrums and cause self sabotage.

We all have a reserve tank. When we go into our reserves, it affects our performance in the future. When we use up our reserves by doing activities outside our genius, the impact can be devastating. Once our reserves our empty, we experience burnout.

Take time to nurture your spirit with activities that give you energy and be in your genius to rejuvenate and replenish.

Love it my friend. I’m with Paul, time to bring on our Genius which lies within us. It is sitting there ready to be revealed. Thanks for the reminder of who we are and that we need to take care of ourselves along the way.

    Make it a great day!

Great points you make about burn out and how to avoid it and over come it. I find times of meditation and reflection help me maintain focus and keep my energy levels up and active.

  6. That bodes so true for me.

My daughter many times pushes me away from the computer. (1+) yr old.

So today we spent a good 2 hrs together just playing and spending good time together.

Sometimes we get into the rut of having to be so rigid but sometimes we have to let go too.

    • Nice Andrew! Thanks for sharing. Your daughter knows what you need.

All kids are geniuses. They are great teachers on how we should live life. Be playful, curious, laugh, compassionate, enthusiastic, and innocent.

  7. Hi Eiji,

I usually run or exercise 3 times per week for 30 mins. I sleep about 7 hours per day and take a nap in the afternoon. I break my day down into chunks or 60 mins and do 2 x’s 60 minute work sessions with a 30 minute break in between.

I always find I am a bit more sluggish in the early afternoons when I usually take a short nap to get my energy back.

All good fun and fortunately I am able to work like this because I work for myself :-)

    • Yes Bill, you are a Ferrari driving top speeds. If you don’t schedule time to rejuvenate and replenish you’ll drive like a Pinto or need to get a new engine that will take a month to get the part. Thanks for stopping by! =)

    Hi Eiji,
Great post! I allow myself everyday around 7 pm to pull back from the noise and do my 3′S (i learned from Robin Sharma)
    1.) Silence
    2.) Solitude
    3.) Stillness

This is where I fill up my inspiration tank and travel deep inward. I feel that the more I give to myself and recharge. The more I am apt to giving back to others. Thanks for the lovely reminder!
