Do you have a Success Journal?
Write down at least 5 successes each and every day. – This will keep you success conscious and cure you from the feeling that you are not doing enough. Success breeds success.
All pain is forgetting who we are, what we accomplish, and what we have. When we have the journal to physically look at what we’ve accomplished we get reinvigorated and acknowledge ourselves.
Recommended Options for Your Success Journal:
1) Physical - Journals can range anywhere from $5 to $100 in all different shapes, sizes, and material. Moleskine produces high quality notebooks at affordable prices.
2) Electronic – Write down your successes electronically. Keep them in Google Docs, Word, or Evernote which is a neat free service to capture your ideas.
3) Voice or Video – Use a digital recorder or video camera to capture your successes, inspirations, and moments of clarity. Very handy especially when you are in great company seeking their counsel. For digital recorders Sony or Olympus have good models. For portable video cameras, Flip UltraHD Camcorder
or the Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera
are very solid choices.

Great post, I have a gratitude journal that I have been keeping for awhile I never thought about a success journal but I am going to encompass it together and have one journal. Thanks for the great idea.

Thanks Lori! Wonderful to hear you have a gratitude journal. The success journal goes hand in hand with it. Now you will have even more to be grateful for. =)

Hey Eiji
I have not written down my successes before. I have my “to do” list and goals written down, plus a vision board to remind me why I do what I do.
Think I will start to write down those success too.
Thanks Eiji

Thanks Peter for visiting! Look forward to seeing how it works for you. Many of my clients have seen it work wonders by acknowledging their accomplishments along the way in between the goals.

Excellent idea, Eiji! I have always been terrible about writing things down and doing things like keeping journals, writing down goals, making to-do lists, etc. In school, it was like pulling out eye teeth for my teacher to get me to write an outline. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I’d just rather jump right in there and start writing my project. Even when I wrote my Masters thesis, I never did an outline. I just research and started writing. Next thing you know, I had a 120 page thesis that, believe it or not, was considered one of the best theses to come out of that small graduate school. I was amazed.
Unfortunately, flying by the seat of your pants doesn’t always work that well, and I think this idea of writing down successes, as well as gratitudes (as mentioned above) on a daily basis can be extremely valuable.
Thanks!
Hey Steve, I hear you brother. I’m similar and take an idea and run with it.
Here are options for people who don’t like carrying journals:
1) Electronic – Evernote (http://evernote.com) provides a free service to collect your ideas and thoughts and sync it to your phone or computer.
2) Digital Voice Recorder – Immediately capture that million dollar idea before it vanishes. With a digital recorder, you can upload it to your computer.
3) Flip or zi8 video – Record it on video.
The challenge I have when I don’t write things down is that in the moment I’ll know it’s a brilliant idea and then 2 hours later I’ll forget or be less clear on the inspiration.
Thanks Steve for your comment, I will add these suggestions to the post.
To Your Genius,
Eiji
What a great idea. We all tend to beat ourselves up on occasion thinking we are not doing enough. I agree with Lori Robertson. I’m going to incorporate this in with my gratitude journal. JacquelineMcGinnis.com
